If the county could find a way to harness all of the brain power being generated last Monday night in the Kennel Club at Southland Park, residents would enjoy free electricity for a month The ninth annual DeltaARTS Corporate Trivia Challenge was held at perennial host and sponsor, Southland Park Gaming & Racing’s Kennel Club, with another edition of an evening’s worth of fun facts and good times for a good cause. Emcee for the evening Phillip Para put participants through their paces with a bevy of questions from Trivia Master. Pete Pollard. In all, 10 teams threw their collective hats in the ring to vie for the 2016 title, all under the watchful eyes of judges Frank Barton, Tracy Brick and Meg Earney, as well as Timekeeper, DeltaARTS Board Member Angela Davis. With a crowd of approximately 100 supporters in attendance, and the coveted traveling Champion’s plaque and the Spirit trophies donated by Trudy Jolly of The Trophy Shop in West Memphis in the balance, the competition was hot and heavy. Ultimately, Team First Community Bank of Eastern Arkansas took home the championship, coming through in the clutch in the final round. Other teams who came out to support DeltaARTS were: Arkansas Distributing Company, ASU Mid-South, City Planners (City of West Memphis), East Arkansas Family Health Center, Fidelity National Bank (Spirit Award winner), Mid-South Health Systems, Southland Park Gaming & Racing (who fielded two teams and were the Spirit Award runners-up), and the West Memphis School District. All proceeds from the Corporate Trivia Challenge help support DeltaARTS programs throughout the year.
