Last Friday night was the 10th Annual Wild Game Dinner sponsored by Angels Way Baptist Church of Marion. It was held at the Marion Convention Center, better known as the John Deere Equipment Company. There was a full crowd of more than 300 sportsmen and their families enjoying all kinds of wild game and fish. Deer, frog legs, catfish, duck, wild hog, buffalo and even old fashioned squirrel and dumplings were served buffet style. The squirrel and dumplings were almost as good as my Mama used to make! There was plenty of food and if you left hungry, it was your fault. Mark Rose, the professional bass fisherman, was one of the original group that started the supper ten years ago. The supper has grown to an annual event. Mark arranged for the program with Mark Davis. Mr. Davis is a professional fisherman from Mount Ida, Arkansas, who has won the B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year and Bassmasters Classic tournament. He gave some fishing tips and a few fishing stories. The evening ended with many prizes being handed out. This was an evening shared and enjoyed by Christian sportsmen. It is great to be with fellow Christians talking about how good The Good Lord’s outdoors are. A good time was had by all.
