Sorority taking part in National Impact Day

Pi Chi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. will be participating with the Wonder City Boys and Girls Club (WCBGC) to pay tribute and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. in a day of service activities on Monday, Jan. 18. The chapter members will join in with the WCBGC and others in a community march starting at 8:30 a.m., from Wonder Junior High School on 14th Street and proceeding to the WCBGC, where there will be various vendors, speakers, and other community groups offering free services and information to the public from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. The AKAs will offer voter registration and free seasonal wraps such as hats, scarves and gloves. The MLK Day celebration has been designated as a National Impact Day for all Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority chapters across the nation and abroad, mandated by the International Office. Chairpersons for this event are Mrs. Clara Barr Ferron and Mrs. Carolyn Anthony. Mrs. Emma Milliner Robinson is the local AKA Chapter President. The public is invited to attend.
