ASU Mid-South There may be no such thing as a free lunch, but Arkansas State University Mid-South offers the next best thing. Arkansas residents 60 years old and older as well as teachers, certified law enforcement officers, and full-time firefighters who live and work in Crittenden County are eligible for tuition waivers. ASU Mid-South waives credit-class tuition for senior citizens (as many hours as they choose to take) as provided by Act 678. Senior citizens must provide proof of age and complete a Tuition Waiver form during the regular registration process on Monday, Jan. 11 (10 a.m.-noon and 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m.). Age-waiver students are required to pay all course fees and to purchase textbooks as required. All registration will be conducted in the Donald W. Reynolds Center on the college’s South Campus. Certified, paid, full-time law enforcement officers and firefighters who live and work in Crittenden County are eligible for a three-hour in-district tuition waiver (maximum value $270). Law officers and firefighters must complete a Tuition Waiver form, provide evidence of current employment and residence, provide a copy of official certification, and obtain necessary approvals prior to registering to be eligible. Currently employed school teachers who live and work in Crittenden County may take up to three hours of credit courses which apply toward continuing education requirements for licensure. Eligible students must pay fees and purchase textbooks. Students who utilize waivers must complete a Tuition Waiver form, provide evidence of current employment and residence, and obtain necessary approvals prior to registering. All classes are subject to availability, and waiver students are not guaranteed a place in any class.
