Marion’s boys hoops team snapped a two-game losing streak with a 51-37 win against Brookland yesterday at the Badger Christmas Classic in Beebe. The Pats moved to 4-5 overall after getting 17 points from junior forward Shaun Doss, 10 from senior starter Marlon Warren, 6 points from A.J. Latham, and 4 apiece from Ashton Mitchell, Jourdan Barrow, Kamari Marrs and Mike Davis. Marion got out of the gates quickly against the Bearkats, scoring 17 points in the first quarter, and dropping 13 more in the second stanza. After halftime, each team’s offenses slowed down, and Marion was able to close the game out down the stretch when Doss hit for 6 of his 17 total points in the fourth quarter. Marion is back in action today at 5:30 PM when they play the winner of Blytheville-Harding Academy in a semifinal contest. On the side of the bracket are the hosts from Beebe and former Marion 4A-East league rival Greene County Tech. The other opening round game was Riverview and Maumelle.
