Tax rates in Crittenden County will remain unchanged for 2016. The Quorum Court voted to keep millage rates the same for the coming year and is expected to vote to adopt an $18 million budget this week. “Everything is unchanged from last year,” said County Treasurer Charlie Suiter. A mil is the amount per $1,000 that is used to calculate taxes on property. The standard way to figure your actual tax bill based on the millage rate is to take that rate, multiply it by the taxable value of your property, then divide the result by 1,000. If your property has a taxable value of $100,000, and you’re assessed a 1 mill tax rate, you’ll pay $100 in taxes. The Quorum Court established the following rates: Real estate and personal property 0 mils county road .5 mils library .04 mils (except West Memphis) hospital .04 mils community college 4.0 mils Total county tax rate: 5.8 mils. West Memphis school 29 mils Marion school 40.70 mils Earle school 44.8 mils Hughes school millage rate of 39.40 mils will come off the books this year because the school district is now part of West Memphis.
