Three Marion volleyball players earn awards

Beasley garners another coach of the year award

After winning the Class 6A state volleyball title on the final day of October, the Marion Lady Patriots continued to rack up postseason awards. Head coach Lisa Beasley was named the Arkansas High School Coaches Association Outstanding Volleyball Coach of the Year after guiding Marion to its third state title in six years. Beasley was previously named the 6A-East’s coach of the year. Juniors Hope Phipps and Annalee Parker joined senior Diane Phillips on the Commercial Appeal’s All-Metro volleyball team. Phipps was previously an all-conference selection in 2014 and 2015, while Parker was an all-state selection during the same years. Phillips was an all-state player in 2013, 2014 and 2015, and was named the 2015 Class 6A state tournament’s Most Valuable Player. Parker and Phillips were also selected to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette’s All-Arkansas volleyball teams. Phillips was a first-team pick, while Parker was a second-team selection.
