Scotta Wells Steele
Scotta Wells Steele, 75, of Marion died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. “Momma Scotta,” as she was affectionately called by many, was a member of West Memphis First Assembly of God and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She led a life filled with compassion for others and had an uncanny ability touch the lives of everyone she met through her love and caring advice. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Dalie Wells and Hope Gamel Wells. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Walter Steele; two daughters: Shelia Steele (Toby) and Simone Shirley (Jody) both of Marion; a son, Skip Steele (Becky) of St. Louis, Missouri; two sisters: Jana Keech of Jonesboro and Kay Wells of Pocahontas; five grandchildren: Hannah Steele, Morgan Steele, Peyton Steele, Bryce Shirley and McKenzie Shirley; and many other friends and family. Visitation will be held at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home in West Memphis, tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to West Memphis First Assembly of God. Viola Thomas, 93, of Marion, passed away Friday, Dec. 4, 2015, at Methodist North Hospital. She was a homemaker. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Wolfe Brothers Funeral Home, with services Saturday 11 a.m., at Macedonia MBC, and burial in Paradise Garden. She leaves a niece who cared for her, Bobbie Hardin of West Memphis and a nephew who also cared for her, Clarence Thomas of Turrell.
