Marion back at it today at Wonder Classic
By Chuck Livingston Sports Editor
For the second year in a row, the Marion Junior Patriots won their own tournament. Playing Forrest City for the title, Marion (8-0 overall) outran the junior Ponies 63-35 at Patriot Arena. The win carried some more significance for the team, as well. Forrest City handed Wonder its first loss in a 46-45 thriller last week. Marion and Wonder are in the same conference. In the title bout, Keyshawn Woods celebrated his return to the Marion lineup by scoring a team-high 15 points, while freshman classmate Timothy Caesar did his part, scoring 13. Detrick Reeves went for 11, while Isaiah Hobbs and Makayi Boyce each posted 8. Khiron Davis scored 6 and Tylela Little scored 2. Marion led 14-6 after the first quarter and 40-18 at halftime. The score after 3 quarters was 53-31. The Junior Pats are in action tonight when they head south to take part in the Wonder Junior Lion Classic. Games will tip at 4 p.m.
