The Marion and Wonder Junior High hoops teams continued to roll during action last week. The Golden Lions are currently 6-0 after beating Earle, Paragould, Buffalo Island Central, Forrest City, Helena and Valley View. The Earle and Paragould games were thrillers that Wonder took by a combined four points. Against the Junior Bulldogs (W 55-53), Wonder got 11 points from Marcus Whitaker, 9 from Immanuel Hoard and 6 apiece from Cabin Paige, Kenneth Phillips, Jamal Macklin and Julius Morris. Against Paragould (W 59-57), Phillips and Macklin hit for 10 apiece. The Golden Lions got going against Buffalo Island Central (W 65-17) behind 20 from Paige, 18 from Phillips and 7 apiece from Marcus Whitaker and Jaylon Patterson. The Forrest City win (63-53) saw Macklin post 19 points, 16 from Phillips, 9 from Paige and 6 from Hoard. Wonder got to 5-0 with a 70-27 win against Helena, thanks to 14 from Paige and Macklin and 13 from Phillips. To get to 6-0, Wonder beat Valley View 47-18 behind 14 from Paige, and 16 from Phillips. The Wonder girls are also off to a 4-0 start after wins against Earle (47-31), Forrest City (51-21), Helena (45-8) and Greene County Tech (38-31). The season-opening win against Earle saw Aryiah Hazley net 23 points and 13 from Tashlee Milow. Against Forrest City, Hazley was back it, hitting for 27 and Milow posted 11. The Helena win saw Milow lead Wonder in scoring with 18 while Hazley ended up with 12. Against Greene County Tech, Tiera Bradley scored 16, Hazley had 12 and Milow went for 8. Wonder will play Helena today and Forrest City on November 30.
